The Ernakulam South police have registered a case against the owner of a skin and hair transplant clinic at Panampilly Nagar and two others after a man who had undergone hair transplant lodged a complaint of serious health hazard caused by bacterial infection of his skull since the procedure.

The accused have been identified as Dr. Sarathkumar, 45, of Insight Derma Clinic, Gokul, 40, of the same clinic and another unidentified woman. The clinic has remained closed since the man lodged a police complaint.

“The accused are absconding. Since the clinic remains closed, we have not been able to conduct even preliminary investigation,” said the South police sources.

According to the first information report (FIR), the petitioner who had undergone the hair transplant process from February 26 was treated carelessly, apathetically, and in unhygienic circumstances. The petitioner developed bacterial infection in the transplanted area, leading to the loss of skin exposing the skull thus leaving him in a serious condition, said the FIR.

The accused have been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 125 (the act of endangering life or personal safety of others), 125 (a) and 125(b).
