With less than a week to go before Nintendo unveils the Switch 2, the Japanese video game company livestreamed the Nintendo Direct event, which focuses on the Switch 1. Highlights from the stream included new footage of games like Pokemon Legends Z-A, Metroid Prime 4L Beyond and Tomodachi Life, but the company also unveiled some new Switch features and shared updates about next week’s Switch 2 Direct event. Here’s a quick look at what the company announced at the Nintendo Direct event on March 27.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Developed by Retro Studios, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is an upcoming action-adventure game. The game’s protagonist, Samus now has a number of new abilities that can be used to do things like open doors, operate mechanisms and even alter the trajectory of her beam. While Nintendo has promised a 2025 launch, there is no news about the release date.
No Sleep for Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files
No Sleep for Kaname Date, the new entrant in the AI: THe Somnium series will see the protagonist search for Iris, an internet idol who has been trapped in a mysterious escape game. This puzzle mystery game will be out on July 25, 2025.
Monument Valley
During the livestream, Nintendo also announced that the critically acclaimed Monument Valley 1 and Monument Valley 2 will be coming to the Switch this year on April 15. As it turns out, Monument Valley 3 will also make its way on the handheld sometime later this year.
Tamagotchi Plaza
Successor to the Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop, Nintendo is also bringing Tamagotchi Plaza to the Switch on June 27. With over 100 Tamagotchi’s to play with, this game will let you and your pals engage in different activities in various stops through minigames.
Pokemon Legends Z-A
Unveiled last month, Nintendo dropped a new trailer for Pokemon Legends Z-A during the livestream. While the upcoming Pokemon game is yet to get a release date, the trailer hints that the game will feature new Pokemons and some fun game modes.
Virtual Game Cards and Nintendo Today app
Alongside upcoming releases, Nintendo also introduced a brand new system for playing games. Dubbed Virtual Game Cards, the system lets you shift and share games by virtually ejecting and loading games between consoles. This feature will be available sometime next month.

The game maker also launched a new app for Nintendo fans called Nintendo Today, which it says will deliver news, comics and other things.
