The Industries department has launched a framework for hi-tech manufacturing in the State as part of the government’s new industrial policy. The framework is aimed at transforming Kerala into a global hub of research and development, design and engineering, testing, certification and manufacturing in the manufacturing sector.
Industries Minister P. Rajeeve said in a social media post on Thursday that the government would extend all possible support for such initiatives based on the framework, in addition to the various other aids promised in the industrial policy.
He said the government is stepping up its efforts to attract more investors to the State at a time when the increased tariffs and other new controls imposed by the U.S. government were creating crises across the world. Kerala has an excellent talent pool for Global Capability Centers (GCC), Global Technology Centers (GTC) and for areas such as design, research and development, and technology-based digital marketing, said Mr. Rajeeve.
The Minister pointed at the recent LinkedIn report as per which around 40,000 professionals working in different parts of the world have reached out to Kerala-based companies or started new ventures in the State.
The crisis posed by the U.S. can be turned into an opportunity by developing high-tech manufacturing industries that contribute significantly to the progress of the knowledge economy.
The State has also embarked on an initiative to foster an Industry 4.0 ecosystem, centred on the themes of sustainability and balanced development. The initiative is grounded in ESG sustainability principles, which is the foundation for a model of responsible industry and responsible investment.
