Five cows electrocuted in Kerala’s Kannur

Kerala

Five cows were electrocuted at a shed at Karamvayal, Edakkom village, Taliparamba taluk, Kannur, Kerala, on Tuesday (June 17, 2025) morning after coming into contact with a live wire used for lighting.

The animals belonged to Shyamala, a local resident.

According to Shyamala, she found the cows lying motionless in the shed in the morning and alerted her husband after noticing the absence of light and sensing electric current within the shed.

Preliminary reports suggest that the electrocution occurred due to an exposed electric wire from their old house that had been extended to the cowshed. It is suspected the wire came into contact with the metal roofing sheet or a supporting pole.
