Additional Chief Secretary K.R. Jyothilal inaugurated a four-day festival organised in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday (December 27, 2025) marking the 80th anniversary of the Russian nuclear industry.
The event is being organised by the Honorary Consulate of Russia with the support of Rosatom.
Former MP A. Sampath; Officer in-charge of the Nuclear Energy Information Centre of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. A.V. Satheesh; Head of the public relations department of Rosatom in South Asia, Ksenia Elkina; president of the Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce S.N. Raghuchandran Nair; Senior journalist K.P. Mohanan; Honorary Consul Ratheesh C. Nair; and Josekutty Abraham spoke.
A seminar for students on ‘Russia’s role in Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy: Powering a Sustainable Global Future,’ was organised. An exhibition highlighting the history of Russia’s nuclear industry has begun in the city as part of the festival. More seminars, competitions and documentary screenings will take place in the coming days, according to the Honorary Consulate.
