An elderly woman was injured from an electric trap set for wild boars at Vaniyamkulam in Palakkad district of Kerala on Saturday (July 5, 2025).
The police said Malathi, 65, suffered serious burn injuries from the electric wire installed in her house compound. She may have accidentally touched the live wire, said the police.
A relative of Malathi found her lying injured in her compound in the morning. She was shifted to a hospital by local residents.
The police have started an investigation. They said it was not clear who set the trap.

Kerala witnessed two electrocutions within a month from illegal electric traps set for wild boars. In the first incident, a farmer died in Alappuzha, while a 15-year old school boy at Vazhikkadavu in Malappuram became a victim of the trap hardly weeks before the Nilambur byelection.
