Doha-bound Air India Express flight returns to Calicut airport a few hours after take-off due to technical fault

An Air India Express flight that took off from the Calicut international airport in Kerala for Doha on Wednesday (July 23, 2025) morning returned a few hours later, reportedly due to a technical issue.

Flight number IX 375 had 188 passengers, including the crew.

It took off at 9.07 a.m. and returned at 11.12 a.m. The passengers are all safe and have deboarded the plane. Airport authorities claimed that there are some technical issues with the cabin’s air conditioning.

‘Not an emergency landing’

An Air India spokesperson said that it was not an emergency landing, but a precautionary one.

An alternative flight has been arranged, which is scheduled to take off for Doha by 1.30 p.m. The passengers have been securely moved into the airport where they have been provided food and water, the spokesperson added.
