Devotees throng Mannarasala

Hundreds of devotees thronged the Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja temple at Haripad to attend the Pooyam Thozhal ritual in connection with the Ayilyam festival on Tuesday. The devotes also participated in the pooyasadhya arranged at Mannarasala UP School later by the noon.

The sanctum sanctorum of the temple was opened for Pooyam Thozhal at 4 p.m. Various cultural programmes were also showcased as part of the festival.

The sanctum sanctorum of the temple will be opened at 4 a.m. for the Ayilyam festival on Wednesday (November 12, 2025). Valiyamma Savithri Antharajanam will give darshan to devotees at the nilavara (cellar) at 9.30 a.m. Various art and cultural programme will be staged throughout the day. An array of rituals like Ayiliyam puja, Noorumpaalum, Sarppa Bali, Guruthi and Thattil Noorumpaalum too will be held.

The KSRTC will conduct special services to the temple from various depots of Alappuzha, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Kollam districts. The district administration has declared a holiday for all educational institutions and government offices of the district in connection with the festival on Wednesday.

The annual festival at the temple began with a Mahadeepakaacha festival on Monday. Family head M.K. Parameswaran Namboothiri inaugurated the event. On the occasion, the Mannarasala Nagaraja Puraskaram was presented to eminent artist Kalanilayam Raghavan, Kalamandalam Chandrika Menon, V V Subrahmanyam, and Kurur Vasudevan Namboothiri for their contributions to temple arts.
