In a suspected case of murder-suicide, a couple was found dead in their house in Karamana on Sunday.
The police identified the deceased persons as Satheesh, 52, and Bindu, 44, of Kesava Bhavan in Thamalam. Satheesh’s body was found on a bed, covered in blood, while Bindu was found hanging nearby.
The incident came to light around 9 a.m. when their relatives and neighbours forced open the back door of the house after the couple were not seen outside even late in the morning.
According to the police, preliminary findings suggest financial difficulties may have led to the deaths. The couple were allegedly burdened with huge debts and faced the prospects of having their house attached by a bank.
Satheesh, a former contractor, had been working as an autorickshaw driver. The couple is survived by their son who works abroad.
