Concrete block falls from under-construction Chavakkad flyover; major tragedy averted

A major accident was narrowly averted in Chavakkad when a concrete block fell from the National Highway (NH) flyover under construction at Manathala on Tuesday night while workers were building the sidewall of the overbridge.

The block reportedly plunged from a height of nearly 20 feet onto the eastern service road near GHSS Manathala school. Fortunately, no one was injured. The falling debris caused temporary traffic disruption in the area.

The Chavakkad police reached the spot and initiated further action, while the workers quickly removed the fallen concrete block. Local residents alleged that negligence on the part of the construction workers led to the incident.
