The Kerala High Court has sought a report from the State government within three weeks on the availability and effective functioning of CCTVs in police stations.

A Division Bench of Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar and Justice Basant Balaji also directed the government to submit a report on courts that heard human rights issues.

The directives came on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Congress leader V. S. Sujith of Kunnamkulam who had been brutally assaulted by the police, the CCTV visuals of which went viral, and others who sought steps to install/monitor CCTVs and the effective functioning of courts at the district level that heard human rights cases.
