In a recent FAQ series by The Indian Express, CBSE Controller of Examinations, Sanyam Bhardwaj, clarified the passing marks criteria for Class 10 and 12 board exams. For Class 10, students must secure a minimum of 33% marks overall (combining Internal Assessment/Project/Practical and Theory) in each subject to pass. For Class 12, students are required to obtain at least 33% marks separately in Theory and in Internal Assessment/Project/Practical, as well as 33% marks in total (combined) for each subject in order to pass.

This year, more than 42 lakh students appeared for the CBSE board examinations conducted from February 15 to April 4, 2025. Class 10 board exams concluded on March 18, while Class 12 exams wrapped up on April 4.

CBSE students will be able to check their CBSE Class 10th, 12th results by this week on the official websites — cbse.gov.in, cbseresults.nic.in, and results.cbse.nic.in. There are various ways through which students can check their CBSE Results 2025. Students will need to insert their roll number, date of birth, and admit card ID to view and download their CBSE Class 10 or CBSE Class 12 results.

Once the CBSE results are declared, students can log into DigiLocker using the credentials and Access Code provided. CBSE will also send DigiLocker login details to students via SMS on their registered mobile numbers. Through this platform, students will be able to download verified digital copies of their marksheets and certificates for academic and career purposes.

In CBSE 2025 examinations, class 10 students are required to secure 33 per cent marks to pass by combining marks of both theory and internal assessment. Class 12 students are required to secure 33 per cent marks separately in theory and practicals. If a student fails to meet this criteria by 01 marks or so, the grace mark(s) may be awarded.

The CBSE board Class 10 marksheet will include details such as the name of the student, total subject-wise marks, theory marks, practical marks, qualifying status (pass or fail), and more. Students must note that the scorecard will be provisional, hence, the students are required to collect the original mark sheet from their schools.

In the previous year, 22,38,827 candidates from Class 10 appeared for the CBSE board exam, out of which 20,95,467 candidates passed, on the other hand, in 2024, 16,21,224 candidates from Class 12 appeared for the CBSE board exam, out of which 14,26,420 candidates passed.
