As part of the Christmas celebrations, the Calicut Archdiocese on Sunday (December 28) hosted ‘Felix Natalis’, a grand cultural procession with the participation of hundreds dressed up as Santa Claus in Kozhikode.

The procession was flagged off by Archbishop Varghese Chakkalakal from the premises of St. Joseph’s Church, Kozhikode, at 4 p.m. It culminated near Freedom Square on the beach. Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas inaugurated the final gathering.

Sources in the archdiocese said the event was hosted to foster social harmony and spread the true spirit of Christmas. People from all religions took part in the celebration of unity, peace, and happiness, they said.

Leaders of various socio-cultural and spiritual organisations under the archdiocese were present to lead the procession. It was the second edition of ‘Felix Natalis’, which was modelled like the ‘Buon Natale’ hosted every year in Thrissur under the aegis of the Thrissur Archdiocese.
