The police have stepped up investigation after the body of a man believed to be in his sixties was recovered from the Kuyyali river in Kannur, Kerala, on Tuesday. The body is suspected to be that of Pramod, accused of killing his two sisters, Sreejaya (72) and Pushpa (68), both residents of Thadambattu Thazham in Kozhikode.
Relatives have identified the body from photographs, but formal identification in person is pending. The discovery comes as the police had been searching for Pramod in connection with the murders.
According to the police, Pramod (63), who had been living with his elderly sisters in a rented house for three years, allegedly strangled them as they were ailing and he could no longer care for them. The bodies were found covered in cloth.
Investigators have been reviewing CCTV footage of locations Pramod had visited before fleeing.
