Attack on Shafi Parambil: Kozhikode DCC seeks action against police officials

Kerala

District Congress Committee (DCC) president K. Praveenkumar has demanded that Abhilash David, Inspector attached to the police control room, Vadakara, be dismissed from service for attacking Shafi Parambil, MP, at Perambra during a protest march on October 10, and disciplinary action be taken against the former Deputy Superintendent of Police R. Hariprasad, for leading the police action.

He was opening a protest meeting organised by the United Democratic Front and the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) at Vadakara on Saturday evening.

Mr. Praveenkumar said that the UDF would launch a series of agitations if the police did not stop its targeted attack on its activists. “K.E. Baiju, District Police Chief (Kozhikode Rural), had said that artificial intelligence tools would be used to zero in on the police personnel who had attacked Mr. Parambil. Though the police are yet to do their job, we have found out who the attackers were,” he added.

Parakkal Abdulla, Indian Union Muslim League leader, alleged that the police were acting at the behest of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). RMPI State secretary N. Venu and other UDF leaders were present.
