The Kerala Muslim Jamat has urged the State government to approach education reforms with prudence and diligence. A State-level leadership camp of the Muslim Jamat held at Malappuram on Thursday demanded that the government undertake comprehensive studies before reforming the education sector.
The Muslim Jamat’s criticism of the government follows the Kerala High Court’s rejection of the government’s last-minute changes to the State engineering and pharmacy entrance examination (KEAM) 2025 standardisation rules.
According to the Muslim Jamat, reforms in education should be implemented in a manner that is transparent, just and responsive to the concerns of students and parents.
The Muslim Jamat suggested that areas like school hour extensions should be subjected to rigorous scientific studies to guide policy decisions.
The organisation recommended examining the timetables of leading international schools. It pointed out that Kerala’s educational excellence was built on collective progress and that divisive efforts would not be permitted.
Kerala Muslim Jamat State president Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliyar inaugurated the camp titled Creation 2025. Vice-president Ponmala Abdul Qadir Musliyar presided over the function. General secretary Syed Ibrahim Khaleel Bukhari delivered the keynote address.
Islamic scholars C. Mohammed Faizy, Wandoor Abdurahman Faizy, Marayamangalam Abdurahman Faizy, C.P. Saidalavi, Sulaiman Saqafi Maliyekkal, Majeed Kakkad, N. Ali Abdullah, A.K. Abdul Hameed, M.N. Kunhahamed Haji and Saifudheen Haji spoke.
