Convener of the Left Democratic Front T.P. Ramakrishnan has said that P.V. Anwar was a closed chapter for the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and that the front will never again trust a leader who changes his stand every now and then.
Speaking to reporters in Kozhikode on Friday, Mr. Ramkrishnan said that the current political situation puts the LDF at an advantage in the forthcoming Assembly bypolls in Nilambur constituency and that M. Swaraj was a capable candidate.
Mr. Ramakrishnan criticised the Congress for kicking up a controversy over the distribution of welfare pensions with the polls approaching. He explained the history of the welfare pensions in the State and alleged that the Congress was always against it. “By criticising the distribution of pensions, they are insulting not just the goodwill of the government but over 62 lakh people in the State who receive it,” he said.
The LDF convener welcomed the stand of the State government as well as the Department of Agriculture in boycotting the World Environment Day programme at the Raj Bhavan. “The Governor adopted a stand favourable to the RSS and the department had no other option,” he said.
He also stated that the results of the Nilambur bypolls will have a far-reaching impact on Kerala politics. He also stated that the Congress’ approach to P.V. Anwar was nothing short of deceit.
