In a proactive move to curb the drug menace in coastal belts, the Kollam City Police launched a specialized narcotic drive on Sunday. The operation focused on 12 key locations under the Pallithottam police station limits. Authorities have intensified surveillance across the region to pre-empt a potential rise in narcotics trafficking and consumption during the upcoming Christmas and New Year season.
The operation was executed under the instructions of District Police Chief Kiran Narayanan and led by Kollam ACP Shareef S. and Pallithottam Inspector Shafeeq. The special drive involved a 40-member force, including DANSAF units from the Kollam, Chathannur, and Karunagapally subdivisions, the dog squad, and women officers from multiple stations.
This crackdown is a key component of ‘Mukthyodayam,’ the City Police’s comprehensive anti-drug action plan. The District Police Chief emphasized that rigorous enforcement will be sustained in the coming days to eradicate substance abuse from the district.
