AMMA to hold election in three months

The general body meeting of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has asked the ad hoc committee of the organisation to complete the preparations for holding the organisational election in three months.

The meeting took the decision following the reported refusal of actor Mohanlal to take up the presidency of the organisation at a meeting held here on Sunday.

The ad hoc committee, which assumed charge after the office-bearers of the organisation stepped down following allegations of sexual harassment against some of them, will continue till the next election.

The meeting was attended by 320 of the 500 members of the organisation. Actor Jagathy Sreekumar, who quit acting following a motor accident, attended the meeting. It was after 13 years that he attended the meeting.
