Affan remains in critical condition

A.R. Affan, the accused in the murders of five people, including his family members, remains in critical condition at the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital, where he has been receiving treatment since his suicide attempt at the Poojappura Central Prison on Sunday.

According to official sources, he continues to be on ventilator support, and his future course of treatment will be decided after assessing his condition in 48 hours. Besides, the doctors anticipate an extended recovery period, given the considerable injuries sustained during his suicide attempt.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Prisons and Correctional Services are likely to adopt disciplinary action against prison officials found negligent in monitoring the accused and preventing the suicide attempt.
