Digitisation of nearly 75% of enumeration forms has been completed in Ernakulam district as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls as of Saturday (November 29, 2025), according to official data. Forms of 1,950,002 of the total 26,53,065 electors in the district were completed by booth level officers (BLOs) by 2 pm on Sunday (November 30, 2025). It accounts for 73.5% of the total electors in the district.

The BLOs have been digitising both the forms collected back from voters and those placed in the uncollectable category. Forms of voters who have died, shifted to another location, or moved abroad are categorised as ‘uncollectable’ in the digitisation process carried out through the BLOApp.

BLOs had been working overtime to complete the digitisation process before December 4, the original deadline set by the Election Commission of India to finish the enumeration for the SIR. On Sunday, the Commission extended the deadline to December 11.

District Collector G. Priyanka said that the district administration would try its best to cross 95% of digitisation by December 4, the original deadline.

Urban constituencies lag behind

As per the data compiled till 8 p.m. on Saturday, the Kothamangalam Assembly constituency was leading the digitisation process with 77.71%. Forms had been distributed to 98.33% of voters in the constituency. In digitisation, Kothamangalam was followed by Kalamassery (77.56%), Kunnathunad (77.54%), and Paravur (76.92%).

Ernakulam was lagging behind in digitisation with just 51.68%. Thrikkakara and Thripunithura were also low on the list, with 57.35% and 57.67% respectively. Difficulties in tracing voters and collecting the filled-up forms have been cited as the reasons for the delay in completing the process in the core urban constituencies of the district.

BLOs were able to trace and distribute forms to almost all voters in constituencies such as Kunnathunad (99.44%), Perumbavoor (99.11%), Angamaly (99.11%), and Aluva (99.05%). Forms were distributed to over 95% of voters in Paravur, Vypeen, Kochi, Piravom, Muvattupuzha, and Kothamangalam.

Forms have been distributed to only 89.40% of voters in Ernakulam, 83.73% in Thripunithura, and 92.05% in Thrikkakara.

Collector visits P&T Apartment Complex

The District Collector on Sunday visited a camp organised by the Kanayannur tehsildar to address SIR-related concerns raised by residents of the P&T Apartment Complex at Mundamveli.

As many as 77 families from the erstwhile P&T Colony near the Perandoor Canal, Kadavanthra, were relocated to the apartment complex built by the Greater Cochin Development Authority in January 2024. “A section of the residents had not received the enumeration forms as their constituency had changed. The camp was organised to help them sort out the issue. The residents also raised certain other issues relating to the Corporation, Greater Cochin Development Authority, and the use of funds from the MLA Local Area Development Scheme. Directives were issued to the authorities concerned immediately to address the concerns,” the Collector said.
