The Ernakulam Town South police on Saturday (November 22, 2025) took into custody a middle-aged man after the body of an unidentified woman was found near his house in a suspected case of murder. George, a resident of Konthuruthy near Thevara, was taken into custody after he was found sitting next to the body of the woman, partially covered with a sack, on a pavement near his house.
The police said it is suspected that George murdered the woman following a financial dispute and his attempt to abandon the body failed as he was allegedly drunk and too tired. The body was found by the Haritha Karma Sena workers who were in the area to collect garbage. They alerted the ward councillor in the area and the councillor in turn reported it to the police.
Ernakulam central ACP Siby Tom told media that the victim is suspected to be a sex worker and George allegedly murdered her by hitting on her head with an iron rod following a financial dispute. “George tried to abandon the body on the road, but it was already around 5 in the morning and he was too tired,” the officer said. George had been reportedly alone in his house for the past few days while his wife was away visiting their daughter.
