The Cantonment police on Tuesday arrested two persons in connection with the murder of Alan, a teenager, who was stabbed to death during a confrontation between two groups of youngsters.
The police identified the accused as Sandeep and Akhilesh, both natives of Jagathy. A search has been launched for at least four others, including the person who allegedly stabbed Alan using a sharp iron rod. The duo have been remanded to judicial custody.
The incident occurred at Thycaud on Monday when Alan reportedly attempted to intervene and de-escalate a dispute between his friends and a rival group over a football game. The situation is believed to have escalated when Alan, seeing his friends being attached by the rival group, attempted to mediate by asking the attackers to let his friends go.
One of the attackers allegedly struck Alan on the head using a helmet, while another person stabbed him in the chest with the sharp weapon. Despite being rushed to the General Hospital by his friends, Alan succumbed to his injuries.
The forensic team, which examined the crime scene, has recovered the iron rod. The body of the deceased was handed over to the family members. The mortal remains were laid to rest at Muttada.
