Student leaders who will lead Children’s Day rally and public meeting organised by the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare and the State government in Thiruvananthapuram on November 14 have been selected.
Durga Jishnu, a Class IV student of Government Teachers’ Training Institute, Manacaud, will be the children’s Prime Minister, while Aradhana Praveen, a Class VII student of V.P.S. Malankara Higher Secondary School, Venganoor, will be the president. Angel S., a Class VI student of Government Higher Secondary School for Girls, Cotton Hill, will be the Speaker.
Prayag M., a Class IV student of Holy Angels’ Convent, Vanchiyoor, will deliver the welcome address at the public meeting organised in connection with Children’s Day. Nivedya R.L., a Class IV student of Carmel Higher Secondary School, Vazhuthacaud, will give the vote of thanks.
The children’s leaders were selected after a screening of the winners of the Malayalam elocution competition in the lower and upper primary school categories at the Varnotsavam Children’s Day arts and literary contest organised by the council, its general secretary G.L. Arun Gopi said in a statement on Friday.
Rally
Nearly 25,000 students from various schools in Thiruvananthapuram district are expected to take part in the Children’s Day rally. Floats and programmes that reflect the message of Children’s Day will be part of the rally.
