Pulse Polio campaign targets over one lakh children in Alappuzha

M.S. Arunkumar, MLA, inaugurated the district-level Pulse Polio immunisation programme at the Community Health Centre, Chunakkara, on Sunday (October 12, 2025).

Speaking at the function, Mr. Arunkumar said everyone should be aware of the dangers of polio and ensure that children grow up in the safest and healthiest way possible. “The Health department has been carrying out continuous efforts to prevent the reoccurrence of the polio threat,” he added. The MLA’s child was also administered the vaccine at the event.

As part of the drive, 1,430 pulse polio booths were set up across the district. The Health department aims to administer the vaccine to 1,09,423 children in the district.

Bharanikavu block panchayat president S. Rajani presided. Deputy director of health services A.L. Sheeja, district medical officer Jamuna Varghese, Chunakkara grama panchayat president Anilkumar and others attended the inaugural function.
