Administrative sanction has been given for the construction of the Cheranalloor-Eloor-Chauka bridge, according to Industries Minister P. Rajeeve. The proposed bridge is 153.24 metres long, and the project will cost ₹27.70 crore.
The bridge will span across the Muttar river in Ernakulam.
The Minister said a long-standing demand of the public was now becoming a reality with the project. He added that the construction of the bridge would be completed in a time-bound manner.
There will be a 329-metre-long road, including the approach road, on the Cheranalloor side and a 335-metre-long road, including the approach road, on the Eloor side. There will be service roads on both sides.
The project assumes significance as the bridge can be used in emergency situations from Eloor to the national highway, especially with the former being the hub of many industrial establishments, the Minister said in a statement.
