Chettur Balakrishnan

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Chettur Balakrishnan passed away in Kozhikode, Kerala, on Thursday (September 18, 2025). He was 80. Mr. Balakrishnan was a member of the party’s national council.
Mr. Balakrishnan had been leading a retired life at his home at Omassery in Kozhikode following age-related ailments. He had worked as the BJP’s Kerala State vice-president and Kozhikode district president.
Mr. Balakrishnan was elected twice to the Mukkom grama panchayat. He was also a functionary of the Mukkom Service Cooperative Bank and director of Kerala Gramin Bank.
Mr. Balakrishnan unsuccessfully contested in the 1996 Assembly elections from the Koduvally segment.
He was a staff at the AUP school, Malayamma.
Mr. Balakrishnan is survived by his wife and two sons.
