The Kudumbashree has reaped riches this Onam with a turnover of ₹40.44 crore.
The Kudumbashree Mission had organised district-level melas and community development society (CDS)-level Onam markets in the run-up to the fete. Besides these markets, Onam sadyas provided by its entrepreneurs and Onam gift hampers too fetched good returns.
The 1,943 Onam markets organised across the State alone recorded a turnover of ₹31.9 crore. This includes the turnover from Kudumbashree microenterprise products and farm products.
The sale of flowers and vegetables through Nirappolima and Onakkani schemes launched in connection with Onam yielded ₹7.29 crore. Sale of plantain and tapioca and their value-added products fetched an additional ₹3.02 crore.
The Kudumbashree also sold 98,910 gift hampers through the Pocketmart e-commerce application and the CDSs. This yielded a turnover of ₹6.3 crore.
Onasadya preparation across the State brought in ₹2.24 crore.
