The Railway Ministry has recently shared vacancy details with the Parliament. A total of 92,116 vacancies are currently under recruitment for the January-December 2024 period. Of these, detailed data on exam stages and applicants was shared for 64,197 posts across seven major categories, which together received over 1.87 crore applications.

In its written reply, the Ministry noted that the recruitment pressure has intensified over the past four to five years due to multiple overlapping factors.
