Local body polls: with one day to go for revised deadline to end, State Election Commission receives over 27 lakh applications for inclusion of names

With the revised deadline for the revision of electoral rolls for the 2025 local body polls ending on Tuesday (August 12, 2025), the State Election Commission (SEC) has received more than 27 lakh applications for inclusion of names till Monday evening.

Till 6.30 p.m. on Monday, the commission received a little over 32 lakh applications. This included 27.07 lakh Form-4 applications for new enrolment, 12,529 Form 6 applications for making corrections, and 1,54,902 Form 7 applications for transposition, shifting a voter to another ward.

While publishing the draft electoral rolls on July 23, the commission had set August 7 as the deadline for enrolment applications and filing complaints. However, the commission extended it to August 12, considering the huge response to the revision process.

As many as 4.60 lakh applications poured in during the time extension, show data.

The commission had earlier announced that the final voters’ list would be published on August 30. The draft electoral roll published by the commission on July 23 contained 2,66,78,256 voters, including 1,40,45,837 women, 1,26,32,186 men, and 233 transgender voters.
