Tree falls on track, delaying train services

Train services between Mavelikara and Chengannur railway stations were hit on Monday evening after a tree fell on the railway track.

The tree fell on the railway track around 6.50 p.m. on Monday, resulting in the tripping of overhead power supply, disrupting the train movement along the route.

According to a statement by the Railways, though traffic restoration work began immediately after the incident, with engineering and electrical personnel mobilised to the spot, trains such as Train No. 16366 Nagercoil–Kottayam Express, Train No. 12258 Thiruvananthapuram North-Yesvantpur Garibrath Express, Train No. 12696 Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Central Superfast Express, Train No. 06163 Thiruvananthapuram North-Mangaluru Junction Special-Ochira-Kayamkulam and Train No. 16304 Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam Junction Vanchinad Express have been delayed.
