Nine persons sustained injuries in a clash between members of an anti-drug committee and a group of youngsters over alleged drug use near the 4th hairpin bend of the Thamarassery Ghat Road on Sunday (May 18).
The activists had reportedly spotted the youngsters using drugs inside a shop at the spot four days ago and had warned them. When they repeated the act, the activists reportedly questioned them, following which the youngsters allegedly attacked the former. According to the Thamarassery police, another group of anti-drug activists reached the spot, leading to an escalation of tension.
The nine injured persons were admitted to the Taluk Hospital at Thamarassery. The police have registered a case against four persons on a complaint by the Committee.
