A yacht service between Kozhikode and Beypore, which is to be officially launched in January, will conduct its trial service during the Beypore International Water Festival.

Minister for Tourism P.A. Mohamed Riyas told reporters here on Monday (December 22, 2025) that the fifth edition of the festival, designed to mark Beypore as a tourism destination, will be held at the Beypore marina besides six other locations spread across the Beypore Assembly Constituency from December 26 to 28.“The festival has been decentralised this time to cut down on the heavy rush experienced during previous editions. With the works on the Cheruvannur overbridge still under way, it may be difficult to handle that kind of crowd in Beypore this year,” he said.

A salient feature of the festival this year is that local talent has been given prominence and, hence, in place of celebrity performances, cultural programmes by senior citizens will be presented. Women, Kudumbashree workers, residents’ associations, differently abled people, and students will be the major crowd pullers. The cultural programmes will be held in the evenings at Oceanus Chaliyam, Nallur Mini Stadium, Mullaveettil Abdurahman Park at Rahman Bazar, Cheruvannur We Park, and Nallalam We Park, besides the Beypore Marina.

The regular water and adventure sports activities, including sailing, country boat races, flyboard demonstrations, paramotor demonstrations, surfing demonstrations, bumper boat demonstrations, dinghy boat races, net-throwing contests, treasure hunts, stand-up paddle demonstrations, sit-on-top kayaking competitions, angling, and dragon boat races, will be held over three days at the Beypore Marina.

The kite festival, featuring flyers from five countries, will be held at Beypore beach. A Navy ship and a Coast Guard ship will be available for visits throughout the festival.

A responsible tourism expo will be held at the Nallur Mini Stadium, featuring products under the Integrated Responsible Tourism Project of Beypore. A theatre festival will be held at the Government UP School, Ramanattukara. The food festival will be held at the Parison Ground in Beypore from December 25 to 29.

A cycle rally from Kozhikode to Beypore on December 25 and a marathon from Chaliyam to Beypore on December 28 are part of the festival. Pre-events include beach sports competitions such as kabaddi, beach volleyball, and beach football, to be held on December 22, 23, and 24, respectively. Kalaripayattu demonstrations, chess competitions, karate, and other martial arts demonstrations are also being organised.
