Even before the city has recovered from the shock of the fate that befell a four-year-old girl who had gone missing only for her body to be fished out from the Chalakudy river, the Maradu police have issued a notice seeking information about a 15-year-old girl, originally from Assam, who is reportedly missing.
The girl, who stayed in a rented house along Church Road, Thykoodam, had gone missing since 7 p.m. on Tuesday (May 20, 2025). The girl’s elder sister works at a shop in Kochi, and she was brought here to be enrolled in a school. Reportedly, she had plans to go to Assam.
According to the police, she had taken an autorickshaw to the Ernakulam South railway station and sought the driver’s help to buy a ticket to Assam. The police checked the CCTV footage from the area and recorded the driver’s statement. She reportedly boarded the first train towards Alappuzha, probably without a ticket. The police have since informed the railway control rooms.
The girl reportedly has ₹20,000 that belonged to her sister. Though CCTV footage in all stations along the route was examined, she could not be tracked. She has no mobile phone, tracking her that much difficult. The police have requested people to share information on the following numbers: 94979-47183, 94979-80421, and 0484-2705659.
