1.6 lakh names struck off electoral rolls

The draft electoral roll for the district, prepared through the Special Intensive Revision process, has been published.

The draft list contains 19,83,885 voters (Male: 9,46,604; Female: 10,37,263; Transgender: 18). As of October 27, 2025, there were 21,44,527 voters in the district; however, 1,60,642 voters were removed due to various reasons such as being under the ASD (Absent, Shifted, Dead) category or being duplicates.

The draft rolls will be distributed to all recognized political parties by the respective Electoral Registration Officers (EROs). Meetings with these parties have been conducted at the district and constituency levels at every stage of SIR 2026 to explain the progress.

The public and political parties can submit claims and objections until January 22, 2026. For voters who could not be mapped during the SIR, EROs will issue notices, conduct hearings, and verify identity documents before making a final decision. All claims and objections received will be resolved by February 14, 2026, and the final electoral roll will be published on February 21, 2026.
